Let's Be Cops

Right now you can see Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. on Fox's comedy series "New Girl," but later this summer, they'll be throwing on a badge in the R-rated comedy Let's Be Cops. Now the first red band trailer for the comedy has arrived, and it feels a little long, mostly because the laughs don't seem to be as big as they should be in a red band trailer. Johnson and Wayans seem like a great team as a couple friends who dress up as cops for a party and take the costume a little too far, but this feels like it should just be an episode on their TV series rather than a full movie. Maybe it's better than the trailer indicates. Watch?

Here's the first red band trailer for Luke Greenfield's Let's Be Cops, originally from Yahoo:

Let's Be Cops is directed by Luke Greenfield (The Girl Next Door) who co-wrote the film with Nicholas Thomas ("Canoga Park"). When two struggling pals (Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr., both of the series "New Girl") dress as police officers for a costume party, they become neighborhood sensations. But when these newly-minted “heroes” get tangled in a real life web of mobsters and dirty detectives, they must put their fake badges on the line. Rob Riggle, Nina Dobrev, James D'Arcy and Andy Garcia also star in the film which 20th Century Fox has slated for release on August 13th late this summer. Looking funny?

I would know what I'm getting myself into with the plot. You can see what mayhem it gets into and I'm OK with that. Plus, as simple as the setup is here, it's actually a fresh idea; nothing overdone or remade. Its the type you'd see with a group of friends before you go out partying. Not to impress a date, unless she's cool like that. Simple, fun laughs.

Holy crap this movie looks beyond amazing, I just loved the music in the trailer also. It looks better than that stupid rince and repeat Godzilla movie for sure.

I love Jake Johnson in New Girl. I'm sure this will be a fun, mindless type of comedy.

I like this. Not a cliche, or remake.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here because all the comments are overwhelmingly positive, but that looks awful...just plain awful.

Wow, stealing the Genital Herpes joke from Supernatural. How original.

ya..........i'm gonna enjoy this by pretending it's just a long episode of new girls, where nick and coach goes off the rails and bumps into shmidts brother at some point.
