Elijah Wood & Michael Caine Join Vin Diesel in 'The Last Witch Hunter'

Elijah Wood

In what might make for one of the strangest assemblies of talent in front of the camera we've seen in awhile, the cast of The Last Witch Hunter is filling out. The film stars Fast & Furious franchise star Vin Diesel as an immortal witch hunter who partners with his natural enemy, a female witch (Rose Leslie of "Game of Thrones"), to stop the covens of New York City from unleashing a plague on humanity. Now Lionsgate has revealed that Lord of the Rings franchise star Elijah Wood has joined the cast along with The Dark Knight trilogy star Michael Caine. Though it's not clear what specific roles the actors have taken. More below!

Honestly, this sounds like one of those supernatural action flicks that doesn't quite connect. The mix of New York City with evil covens of witches just has flares of I, Frankenstein or other similarly strange misfires. We'd love to be proven wrong, but this doesn't sound like a good idea. Anyway, production is supposed to begin next month, but there's no release date for the film from The Crazies director Breck Eisner. Stay tuned to see if any more cast members join the production, and we'll keep you posted as the film progresses.

Neat cast. Agree though, the whole modern day supernatural monster / witch hunter thing is a pretty tough genre' to do right.

Actually, it sounds fun, but I'm still not fully interested, at least yet.
