'Evil Dead' Remake Director Back with Sam Raimi for 'Man in the Dark'
Since it sounds like a sequel to the remake of Evil Dead isn't coming anytime soon (even though the film turned out to be a solid remake), director Fede Alvarez and producer Sam Raimi are teaming up for a new thriller. THR has word that Raimi and Alvarez are collaborating on A Man in the Dark, which the latter also co-wrote with Rodo Sayagues (the two got noticed for their awesome short Panic Attack! before co-writing Evil Dead). The film will focus on a group of three teenagers who are skilled in the execution of perfect home robberies. And when they set their sights on one final target, it seems like an easy enough job.
The final job is the house of a blind man where millions of dollars are hidden, but instead of encountering an easy mark, the trio are pitted against an absolute psychopath with secrets of his own. That sounds like an awesome premise, and since it's an original idea, we're even more excited to see it. Raimi will produce through his Ghost House Pictures banner with the company's J.R. Young, Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake executive producing as well. And as horror fans, we're still hoping to see the Evil Dead remake continue as a new franchise, but it doesn't look likely for now. Stay tuned.
