'Girls' Star Adam Driver Near Deal for 'Star Wars: Episode VII' Villain
It seems fortuitous that right now on the HBO series "Girls," the character played by Adam Driver just booked a big Broadway role that could change his life. Now Variety reports the real life actor has a role that will really launch his career. Driver is currently near closing a deal to play the villain in Star Wars: Episode VII, the follow-up to the classic original trilogy that concluded with Return of the Jedi. Though no details on the character are known, sources say the villain is in the same vein as the iconic Darth Vader. Driver has never had a role like this before, but he has a mysterious presence about him that's just perfect.
Driver was rumored back in January, and apparently the big hold-up in casting him was ensuring that his schedule for shooting "Girls" wouldn't interfere with Star Wars. However, it's interesting to note that it was just a fourth season of the HBO series that would have been an issue, but any other seasons, which implies that Driver will be around for multiple movies in this new trilogy. Director J.J. Abrams is supposed to start shooting in May, and more casting will likely come out of the woodwork soon, so we'll see if any of the countless other casting rumors come true, and if any original Star Wars cast members join too. Thoughts?
