Guy Pearce & Kristen Wiig Have a 'Hateship Loveship' in First Trailer
At this past Sundance Film Festival, "Saturday Night Live" veteran Kristen Wiig got plenty of praise for a fantastic performance alongside late night sketch cohort Bill Hader in The Skeleton Twins. While we're awaiting a release date for that indie, it looks like we'll see another surprising low key performances from the Bridesmaids star in Hateship Loveship. This looks like an odd drama, with Wiig as a housekeeper deceived into forming an unlikely friendship with a family outcast (Guy Pearce), still blamed for the death of his wife and mother of his daughter (Hailee Steinfeld) by his father-in-law (Nick Nolte). Here's the first trailer for Liza Johnson's Hateship Loveship from Yahoo:
Hateship Loveship is directed by Liza Jonson (Return) and written by Mark Poire (Goats). Johanna Parry (Kristen Wiig) is a profoundly shy, unadorned woman who is hired by Mr. McCauley (Nick Nolte) as a housekeeper and a primary caregiver to his granddaughter Sabitha (Hailee Steinfeld), who carries wounds from the death of her mother years before, for which her grandfather still blames her father, Ken (Guy Pearce), a hapless recovering drug addict with a certain ragged charm. In an act of mean-spirited rebellion, Sabitha uses technology to foster a pseudo-relationship between Johanna and her father, but it eventually provokes Johanna to indulge in something long missing from her life: the dream of a future and a home of her own. IFC Films releases the film, which played at TIFF 2013, on VOD and in theaters on April 11th.
