Hugh Grant Returns to Romantic Comedy in 'The Rewrite' UK Trailer
Lately the charming British actor Hugh Grant has taken on some out of the ordinary roles including an eclectic turn in Cloud Atlas and some kind of superior role in next year's The Man from U.N.C.L.E., but he had time to get back into his usual romantic comedy territory across the pond. The Rewrite reunites Grant with Two Weeks Notice and Music & Lyrics writer/director Marc Lawrence, and as the first trailer indicates, he's playing a once-thriving screenwriter who is now broke, divorced and desperate. So he takes a gig teaching screenwriting at a small town university. And as you might have guessed, he finds love. Watch!
Here's the first trailer for Marc Lawrence's The Rewrite straight from Lionsgate UK:
Once upon a time, screenwriter Keith Michaels (Hugh Grant) was on top of the world. But 15 years later, he’s divorced, broke, approaching fifty and hasn’t written a hit film in years. Luckily, his agent has a job for him – a university in the quiet town of Binghamton is looking for someone to teach a course in screenwriting. Hoping to give minimal attention to his duties and focus on writing a new script, his attitude slowly begins to turn when he meets Holly (Marisa Tomei), and the pair find themselves connected by their mutual need for a second chance. Allison Janney, J.K. Simmons, Chris Elliott and more also star in The Rewrite, which Lionsgate releases the film the UK on October 18th, but there's no US release date yet.
