Jennifer Lawrence Maybe Taking a Role in Tarantino's 'Hateful Eight'
While we've heard that the cast of Quentin Tarantino's new western The Hateful Eight would be utilizing the cast that came together for the live reading of the script earlier this year, it sounds like there might be an addition to the cast no one expected. As of now, the return of Bruce Dern, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Madsen, James Remar, Amber Tamblyn, Walton Goggins and Zoe Bell have mostly been assumed with no official confirmation. Kurt Russell seems to be the only one definitely returning since he knew that production was going to begin soon. Now Collider is hearing that Jennifer Lawrence is in talks for a role.
You might be wondering how this is possible so late in the game, especially with a teaser trailer for the film playing in theaters this weekend with Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. But the descriptions of the teaser trailer confirm it's just some motion-title cards, and none of the cast is revealed, just character names. The film hasn't even started shooting yet, so it's not out of the realm of possibility for some of the cast to change, or even for a new character to enter the fray, especially since Tarantino said he had some rewriting to do after the live-read back in April.
In the live-read, there were only two female characters, one of the titular Hateful Eight named Daisy Domergue (played by Amber Tamblyn) and a supporting character named Six Horse Judy, played by Zoe Bell. There's a chance that Lawrence could take either of those roles, if only because The Weinstein Company probably wants a more star-studded cast. However, this might depend on how much filming she has to do for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part II, plus she's supposed to lead David O. Russell's Joy, already slated for a Christmas 2015 release. Either way, Collider says this isn't just a rumor or a wishlist scenario, so we hope that these talks result in Lawrence landing a role in the film. Sound good?
