Joe Swanberg is Done 'Digging for Fire' with Anna Kendrick & More
Independent film director Joe Swanberg moves through films so quickly that we don't even get a chance to find out the cast of his next project until he's already done shooting it. Such is the case with Digging for Fire, which The Wrap reports has just wrapped production and boasts an impressive ensemble cast. This time Swanberg is reuniting with his Drinking Buddies stars Anna Kendrick and Jake Johnson, and they will be joined by Orlando Bloom, Jenny Slate, Mike Birbiglia, Rosemarie DeWitt, Sam Rockwell and Brie Larson. The plot is being kept under wraps for now, but Swanberg wrote the script with Johnson.
Johnson and DeWitt are the leads, with Rockwell, Larson and Bloom having prominent supporting roles. Meanwhile, Kendrick, Birbiglia and Slate all have smaller rolers in the film that was shot by Beasts of the Southern Wild cinematograher Ben Richardson on 35mm film. Kendrick just recently appeared in another Swanberg film, the indie comedy Happy Christmas in which the director also stars with Lena Dunham, Mark Webber and Melanie Lynskey. The most surprising inclusion is Bloom, who doesn't seem like the kind of actor to get caught up in a Swanberg film, but we're interested to see what he brings to the table.
