John Cusack & Adrien Brody Find 'Dragon Blade' with Jackie Chan
Action star Jackie Chan is already slated to lead a new film called Skiptrace that feels like a throwback to the 90s with Seann William Scott co-starring and Die Hard 2 director Renny Harlin at the helm. Now he's found another odd project, and a pair of somewhat struggling actors have come aboard the film as well. Dragon Blade is a historical epic that is currently in production, heading to Dunhuang and the Gobi Desert for their next location and THR has the news straight from Chan himself at the Shanghai Film Festival that Adrien Brody and John Cusack will also star in the film that is directed by Daniel Lee.
The film is inspired by a missing legion of Roman soldiers that traveled into China in 48 BCE and finds Chan playing the Commander of the Protectorate of the Western Regions who teams up with Lucius (Cusack), a Roman general who led a legion of a 1,000 soldiers into Han Dynasty China, to protect China's borders and sovereignty. Meanwhile, Brody will play Tiberius, who has assassinated Rome's Consul Crassus and chased after Lucius with a force of 100,000 soldiers. With the addition of Cusack and Brody, this sounds like the kind of film that is destined for the DVD bargain bin, but maybe it will be good? Thoughts?
