Jude Law

It's been a little while since we heard anything new about Guy Ritchie's gestating new take on the classic tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. Taking the lead role is Pacific Rim star Charlie Hunnam and Astrid Berges-Frisbey is playing Guinevere. There have been rumblings of Idris Elba taking a role, but that may not have panned out. However, Variety has word that one more cast member has entered the mix with Jude Law in talks to take the villain role in the film. However, at this point it's not clear who Law will play, because the plot and character roster beyond our two leads hasn't been revealed yet. Read on!

As we said, it doesn't sound like Elba's casting in the movie panned out because the trade also notes that Ritchie is still looking for an actor to play Arthur's mentor, and that's the role Hunnam's Pacific Rim co-star was up for. It's the last major role left to be cast before the film begins production. There's still plenty of time to round up a cast since the film doesn't arrive until July 22nd, 2016, but obviously the sooner the cast is squared away the better. The plan is still for this film to begin a six film franchise, and it's not clear whether or not Law (who worked on both of Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes films as Watson) will last over more than one film, but we'll find out down the road.

Man, so conflicted! On one hand, its a Guy Ritchie movie and those I love, and on the other hand, its a period movie and those I hate....I suppose I'll cross the bridge when I get there...he should do something about RocknRolla Part2 though....
