Keanu Reeves & Eli Roth Team on Psychological Thriller 'Knock Knock'
February brought news that horror director Eli Roth was going to reteam with Nicolas Lopez and Guillermo Amoedo, the writers of the earthquake thriller Aftershock he produced, for a new horror film called Knock Knock. The film was said to follow two young girls who show up unexpectedly at the home of a married man where they seduce him and wreak havoc on his perfect life. Now Deadline has word that Speed and The Matrix star Keanu Reeves will venture into horror with a commitment to star in the film as the married man, and he will also executive produce with production slated to begin in under two weeks.
The project is coming together extremely quickly making Roth very happy:
“I had a window before I promote 'Green Inferno,' and I wanted to make a movie like Roman Polanski or Paul Verhoeven made when they were young, a classic psychosexual thriller that’s not a horror movie, but would have everyone on the edge of their seats. Getting Keanu is amazing, he’s a fine actor who is perfect for this. I feel I can have this movie ready for Toronto if I need to, and he’s catching a plane tomorrow and we’ll be fitting him for wardrobe right away.”
In addition, Roth has two of the stars from his cannibal horror film The Green Inferno coming aboard as well. Ignacia Allamand will play Reeves wife who leaves him alone for the weekend and Lorenza Izzo will play one of the women who throws his life upside down. The other invasive girl will be played by Anna de Armas, fresh off her performance in the boxing drama Hands of Stone starring Edgar Ramirez and Robert De Niro. The teaming of Roth and Reeves is surprising, but it sounds like it could make for an erotic thriller, but not the kind you see on Cinemax late at night. Sound good?
