Kevin Hart & Ice Cube Will Reunite for 'Ride Along' Sequel at Universal
Despite my distaste for the obnoxious comedy of Kevin Hart, there's no denying that he's found a big audience at the box office. Last weekend About Last Night made a splash, and Ride Along back in January was a hit too. Now the latter Universal Pictures buddy cop comedy will be getting the sequel treatment as Deadline reports the studio has rounded up Hart to reteam with rapper turned actor Ice Cube for a sequel to the first film about a security guard who is forced to join his hopeful fiance's detective brother on a ride along in order to impress him. Of course, they got caught up in some real danger, making for action comedy.
It's not clear where the story will goo, but writers Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi will return to script the film, and Tim Story will be back to direct. Apparently everyone is looking to inject more action into the mix, not to mention trying to make it a bit more multicultural to build the audience. The plan is for production to start sometime this summer in June or July, but the script needs to be finished first. Before that, Hart will be making Get Hard with Will Ferrell, and personally, I'm hoping the Anchorman star can help counter the boisterous Hart and make him less annoying.
