Kevin Smith Mentions Minor Details About Upcoming Horror Trilogy

Retired from making movies? No way! At his annual Comic-Con panel in San Diego this year, Kevin Smith revealed the first official trailer for his wacky new horror film Tusk, about a guy who wants to make another guy into a walrus (see it here). During the panel's Q&A with the audience, a very young girl came up to the microphone and asked him if he would ever make movies that weren't R-rated. His only PG-13 film so far is Jersey Girl, but he went on to say he's actually working on an entire new trilogy of horror films called the "True North Trilogy", referencing their Canadian setting. We know about two, but not much about the other.
The first film in Kevin Smith's new horror trilogy is Tusk, and it will be rated-R - just watch the trailer if you're wondering why. The second film will be called Yoga-Hosers, and it's apparently a "Tusk spin-off" and will star the same Tusk cast, and this one is going for a PG-13 rating. It's about "two characters in a convenience store in Tusk that you see for five minutes" who end up getting an entire movie, and the leads are two 15-year-old girls. He hinted that they have some kind of special power/weapon that he couldn't reveal, because he will be "run out of the country" once it does get revealed. Sounds like that should be fun.
Lastly, the third film is something we have only heard mentioned before once that he described simply as: Moose Jaws, which is also the title, as he references in this blog post. Basically it will be Jaws, but with a moose (this is a horror trilogy inspired by Canadian lore and history, of course). He said there's a scene that is pretty much a moose just grabbing kids right out of a lake. Or something like that. And apparently, if I heard him correctly, this will be the film for kids. That or it will be a film to scare the crap out of kids. Not many other details were revealed as he's currently in the middle of writing that script to wrap up the trilogy.
While this sounds ambitious for someone who said he was retiring from making movies a few years ago, it also seems like it's all happening quite fast. Yoga-Hosers sounds like it'll be shooting soon and ready for release next year, plus who knows what else. Clerks 3 is definitely in the works, but that may not be ready for a few years. And he's also developing a film about the "Anti-Klaus" Krampus, supposedly called Comes the Krampus, which sounds like it could easily fit into this "True North Trilogy" as well. Smith has a number of projects on the table and is certainly keeping busy. We'll have to see how Tusk turns out before we get excited for whatever comes next. Thanks to SlashFilm for extra info.
