Kristen Stewart Stepping Away from Acting for 'Other Forms of Art'
Just as Kristen Stewart seems to finally be taking interesting roles and letting us forget about The Twilight Saga, it appears the exhaustion of the spotlight has her wanting to take a break from acting for awhile. Speaking with USA Today, Stewart was asked what she has coming up next, and the actress said, "I'm taking some time off because I've been working for two years." That might not seem like a lot of time, but when you're moving in and out of various characters with entirely different personalities, and when you're as famous and bother by photographers and tabloids, it would probably be nice to step away for a bit.
Stewart explained why she's taking a break and what she wants to do with that time:
"I'm an actor and that's my art form, and because I started so young, I've always felt intimidated and insufficient when I think about other forms of art I want to create. I'm going to take so much time off. I'm going to buy a live-work space in downtown LA and I'm going to make some (stuff) with my hands. Literally, I made that decision a few weeks ago. I'm making a short film. I'm making a bunch of (stuff). I don't know how I'll put it out. But I'm not going to hold it so preciously close to me. I write all the time."
Stewart has already published some poetry she's written, so it's not surprising that she wants to try out some other creative outlets. It's just a shame that she's taking a break at a time when she's getting acclaim for roles in Camp X-Ray (even though I didn't enjoy her performance) and The Clouds of Sils Maria. But fans of Stewart shouldn't fret, because she already finished her role in Drake Doremus' sci-fi Equals with Nicholas Hoult and also has a reunion with Jesse Eisenberg in American Ultra from Max Landis, an ensemble drama called Anesthesia and also the TIFF selected Still Alice, which will get an awards season release later this year. So you'll still get your share of Stewart over the next couple years.
