Leighton Meester and Gillian Jacobs Are 'Life Partners' in Indie Trailer
"I hate everyone but you." While the fall and winter are usually reserved for awards season contenders and big studio films looking for a holiday audience, there are still some festival indies trickling into theaters as well. One such film is Life Partners, a comedy starring Leighton Meester ("Gossip Girl") and Gillian Jacobs ("Community") as best friends who find themselves facing a crossroads when love enters the picture in the form of Adam Brody. The first trailer has arrived, and it looks amusing with appearances by Abby Elliott and Gabourey Sidibe, plus Kate McKinnon is supposed to pop up at some point too. Watch?
Here's the first trailer for Susanna Fogel's Life Partners, originally from Apple:
Life Partners is directed by Susanna Fogel, who co-wrote the script with Joni Lefkowitz. At 29, the most long-term relationship Sasha (Leighton Meester) and Paige (Gillian Jacobs) have ever been in is with each other, using their co-dependent friendship as an excuse not to venture out into the dating world alone. But when Paige meets nerdy Tim (Adam Brody) and starts to get serious for the first time, the nature of their friendship begins to shift. Fearing she’s being cast aside, Sasha tries to keep their relationship the same, but does growing up also mean growing apart? Magnolia Pictures will release the film on December 5th.
