Mads Mikkelsen & Eva Green in Cannes Western 'The Salvation' Trailer
"You have my respect." Zentropa has debuted the first official trailer for Kristian Levring's The Salvation, a brand new western set in the 1870s starring talented actors Mads Mikkelsen and Eva Green, as well as Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Mikael Persbrandt, Michael Raymond-James and Jonathan Pryce. The film, about a settler who hunts down his family's murderer, is premiering at the Cannes Film Festival this month in the Midnight section next to the other gritty sorta-western The Rover. It's a solid trailer for a film that is now at the top of my list of films to catch during the fest. The cast looks exceptional, the story looks interesting, the cinematography is gorgeous, can't help but say I'm curious to check this one out. Fire it up.
Here's the first trailer for Kristian Levring's The Salvation, from YouTube via The Playlist:
Synopsis: In 1870s America, a peaceful American settler kills his family's murderer which unleashes the fury of a notorious gang leader. His cowardly fellow townspeople then betray him, forcing him to hunt down the outlaws alone. The Salvation is directed by Danish filmmaker Kristian Levring (of Fear Me Not and The Intended previously), from a screenplay co-written by Levring & Anders Thomas Jensen. The film will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in the Midnight Screenings section later in this month, before opening in Denmark this October. We still don't have exact details on the US release or any plans, but we'll keep you updated. For more info from the production, visit the film's official Facebook page. Look good?
