The Pryamid

This week we've already gotten one final extended red band trailer for this week's release of As Above, So Below and the first trailer for the Bigfoot horror thriller Exists from The Blair Witch Project director Eduardo Sanchez. Now we have another found footage horror trailer arriving for The Pyramid, a new film from 20th Century Fox arriving in theaters this winter. Similar to As Above, So Below, this one follows a group of archaeologists exploring a pyramid once thought lost in the middle of the Egyptian desert. And as you would expect, they find something terrifying inside that begins haunting and hunting them. Watch it!

Here's the first trailer for Grégory Levasseur's The Pyramid, originally from Apple:

The ancient wonders of the world have long cursed explorers who've dared to uncover their secrets. But a team of U.S. archaeologists gets more than they bargained for when they discover a lost pyramid unlike any other in the Egyptian desert. As they unlock the horrific secrets buried within, they realize they aren't just trapped; they are being hunted. Ashley Hinshaw, James Buckley, Denis O'Hare, Christa Nicola and Amir K also star in the film directed by Grégory Levasseur, making his directorial debut, with a script from Daniel Meersand & Nick Simon. Fox sends The Pyramid to theaters this winter on December 5th. Interested?

Egads, looks as bad (and the same) as As Above, So Below...
  • Whoa. That looks better than I was expecting. Much better than Bigfoot Boogaloo, that's for sure.

That looks better than Exists. But still..........tombs? Pharaohs? What's happening? But seriously, Alexandre Aja's High Tension is the shit.
  • Jon Odishaw
I think this is actually pretty cool. If Aja was directing Id watch it for sure, but Ill likely give it a chance on DVD

Proly be an ok rental, I will never go see a found footage film in a theater. Not paying a premium to see blurry shaky footage with typically unknown/unskilled actors.
  • 3 sided pyramid = Luminattiz and aliens for the lolz cupboard. Looks quite terri-bad in a straight to DVD type way. Might watch. Doesn't look too 'found-footage' style so that's a plus.
  • I would have really liked if the whole film wasn't actually supernatural at all but just the mechanical traps of the tomb taking them out one by one... similar to a found footage Egyptian version of The Collector.

Is this really found footage? If so, they aren't even pretending to try to make it look that way

I can't help but think that a lot of these filmmakers are selling themselves short with the "found footage" format. It's not only overused but it's a restrictive way to shoot a film, style-wise.

      Not to mention Narrative-wise

This looks like what the reboot of the Mummy should have been, but instead we get another PG-13 action film. I think this looks pretty cool though.
Those masks...Like modern versions of the one they wore during The Plague.

Meh. Found footage is not that great.

Have a bad feeling that the Ashley Hinshaw character will be the last one standing until the final shot in the trailer ends the movie.
  • Liam Knurtsis
looks exactly like quarantined, nobody gets out #lame
  • SkyNet300
Wow I'm surprised this looks that good.

Is this with Arnold Vaslo or Jet Li?
