Gone Girl Trailer

"All I'm trying to do is be nice to the people volunteering to help find Amy." It's time. Fox has debuted the second official trailer for David Fincher's adaptation of Gone Girl, starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike as Nick and Amy Dunne. This murder mystery involves an interesting cast of characters, with some Fincher twists and turns, many of which are carefully planted in this trailer. The rest of the cast includes Scoot McNairy, Neil Patrick Harris, Missi Pyle, Patrick Fugit, Emily Ratajkowski, even Tyler Perry. This new trailer isn't as sleek as the first one, but I still can't wait to see this, I feel like Fincher has a few tricks up his sleeves and this footage is only just scratching the surface. Take a look for yourself below.

Here's the second trailer for David Fincher's adaptation of Gone Girl, in high def on Apple or YouTube:

Gone Girl is directed by David Fincher (of Seven, The Game, Fight Club, Zodiac, Panic Room, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo previously) and written by Gillian Flynn, based on her own best-selling novel of the same name. In a story primarily told in flashbacks, Rosamund Pike plays a wife who goes missing on her fifth wedding anniversary, and her husband (Ben Affleck) becomes the prime suspect in her disappearance. Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Scoot McNairy and Missi Pyle also star in the film which 20th Century Fox releases everywhere this fall on October 3rd.

Fincher can do no wrong. He can make a good film at worst. And a masterpiece at best.

*cough* Alien 3 *cough* (it's not too bad, though) Anyway, this trailer is awesome. This film might become one of this year's very best!
      • Considering the odds he had (all against him) he did pretty ok job. A lot better than...Alien 4 :)
      • Jon Odishaw
Alien 3 would have probably ended up a cult classic and considered better than it was if it weren't for the two masterpieces that preceeded it.

Agreed. It really is not that bad. I mean it's bad, but not THAT bad.
          • Jon Odishaw
Yea and some of the movies he's made since, and the consistency of his successes make everyone forget he did alien 3.

I agree, I just meant that there've been other filmmakers of his generation that did better with their debut, and continue being good as well, to which your original comment might better apply to--that's all. Fincher probably needed that learning curve with the studio system, and ever since he's been consistently great.
      • Yet you had to mention a film he made 22 years ago as his first feature to find something remotely lesser than every film he's made since then. I think that says a lot about his talent, don't you?

    That was...just awesome.

Wow. Blown away. This looks awesome! I had to go to Apple's site to watch the trailer, but it worked for me.

    Thats Oscar-winning stuff right there!

Wow, and I thought Affleck was 'only' a brilliant director. Still anyone who thinks he is not capable of doing Batman?
    • He's very capable. Too many people hanging onto Ben from 10-12 years ago. He'll show his acting chops in this, as he has in several other films.

And to be fair, simply being a good dramatic actor does not necessarily mean you can transition between genres with success.

This is the top of my most anticipated movies his year. I've noticed the last two movies I've seen in the theatre - Godzilla and Deliver Us From Evil were weighed down by overbearing and distracting scores and one of the many things I love about Fincher's recent movies is Reznor's very understated and great ambient scores. That's one of the reasons I'm anticipating this to be awesome.
  • Love Fincher and love when Affleck directs. However him as an actor, not so much. I mean some people are just great actors, few are both and Ben is def a better director,IMO. Excited for this movie either way but it looks very similar to GWTDT. While thats a good thing, i'd like Fincher to try a new genre. Maybe some scifi. I'd be curious what he could do...
