JJ did it. I don't even have to see the movie and I know he did it,

Jon Odishaw on Nov 28, 2014

Urrm actually we saw R2-D2 and C-3PO much more recently than that! YES first nerdy and pedantic Star Wars comment in a long time, it begins!

Michael Power on Nov 28, 2014

I know I know, I just meant - all together, back from the originals.

Alex Billington on Nov 28, 2014

AHAHA got ya! ;D

Michael Power on Nov 28, 2014

Lens flares in the Millennium Falcon shot!!

TheOct8pus on Nov 28, 2014

I swear to god dude....

Jon Odishaw on Nov 28, 2014

I dont know why everyones crying about the flares. I think they're cool. People with sensitive eyes need to watch something else that doesnt include CG.

Rock n Rollllll on Dec 1, 2014

The lens flares are really cool looking. I guess the "issue" is that JJ LOVES the lens flares and uses them way too much. I don't think he does it consciously either. There are literally 721 lens flares in the first Star Trek movie and 826 lens flares in "Into Darkness". That's a shitload of lens flares.

TheOct8pus on Dec 1, 2014

Yep, i dont mind them but even hes has admitted that its getting out of hand. He could get away with it in Star Trek because he was bringing star trek to a whole new generation. whereas star wars has avid fans of all ages and he simply cant fuck around with it. Id be okay with a few lightsaber lens flares.

Jon Odishaw on Dec 2, 2014

I never thought of lightsaber lens flares....maybe he could do a couple...

TheOct8pus on Dec 2, 2014

Here's a video tallying them up...

TheOct8pus on Dec 1, 2014

I'm not a fan of JJ Abrams, but this got me pumped! And I loved that sith, it's about time we see some variation on the light sabers.

Ricardo_PT on Nov 28, 2014

If you're typing about the light saber's light rawness, totally agree! If you're typing about the ridiculous T handle, no thank you.

redtie on Nov 28, 2014

lol, I'm talking about both šŸ˜› I don't care if it isn't practical, it looks amazing.

Ricardo_PT on Nov 28, 2014

Nailed it...mind blown...

petermccormack on Nov 28, 2014

Looks amazing. I know it's just a teaser, but I want more!!! I hate how JJ creates so much anticipation. He's the worst cocktease on earth!!

TheOct8pus on Nov 28, 2014

The Millennium Falcon is still the most badass ship in the galaxy.

TheOct8pus on Nov 28, 2014

I'm thinking there will be a different trailer shown in the theater this weekend. As much as I loved the few glimpses we had and the tone is amazing, I want to see shots of the original trilogy characters and I'm betting the trailer in the theater will deliver that.

David Diaz on Nov 28, 2014

Nope. The trailer in the theater is the same as this one.

Wampa Clown on Nov 28, 2014

Really? You saw it? That's a bit of a bummer. Figure they would have saved putting it on the web until after this weekend since they were hyping up this weekend. Oh well.

David Diaz on Nov 28, 2014

This is so unreal.

Nielsen700 on Nov 28, 2014

Man I love the rawness of light in that red lightsaber. Feels more evil. And the shots of the Falcon and X-Wings are just gorgeous.

David Diaz on Nov 28, 2014

You just made me watch that clip like 10 times.

redtie on Nov 28, 2014

ive watched it about 12 times and will watch it another twelve today at least.

Jon Odishaw on Nov 28, 2014

It's a soccer ball

TheOct8pus on Nov 28, 2014

Yeah... I heard there's a sponsorship deal in place with World Cup 2018.

Movie Bear on Nov 28, 2014

FIFA: light side or dark side?

redtie on Nov 28, 2014

Dark side, wonder if they used slave labour. šŸ™

Carpola on Nov 28, 2014

This scene was shot in Qatar

TheOct8pus on Nov 28, 2014

For some reason, I did not find this new droid ridiculous. I think that means I'm excited.

redtie on Nov 28, 2014

Looks like the comic relief has been teased lol.

theslayer5150 on Nov 28, 2014

It the new model. R0L2!

DaNorb on Nov 29, 2014

This is how you make a teaser! The Jurassic World people should take note.

Zack Snyder on Nov 28, 2014

but the Pan trailer was good, right? RIGHT!?

Ryan on Nov 28, 2014

Jon Odishaw on Nov 28, 2014

you're dead to me

Ryan on Nov 28, 2014

hahaha Im still anticipating a strong film from Joe Wright, but the trailer didnt do it for me.

Jon Odishaw on Nov 28, 2014

dead I say, DEAD!!!!

Ryan on Nov 28, 2014

What's going on here?

TheOct8pus on Nov 28, 2014

Haha when I first started watching I was thinking "oh great another joke trailer"

Jon Odishaw on Nov 28, 2014

Yeah, it got me as well. I was like, Dammit, that's Kevin Hart!

mooreworthy on Nov 28, 2014

Boyega's character is a stormtrooper that goes AWOL after his squad brutally attacks a village during a night raid. In the trailer, that's his squad landing in the dropship. When he tries to protect an innocent villager, he is court martialed for treason and has to flee into the desert.

Wampa Clown on Nov 28, 2014

There's no need to describe every detail, please remain spoiler-free

Ricardo_PT on Nov 28, 2014

I hope you're telling the truth, because that's a badass subplot

TheOct8pus on Nov 28, 2014

Isn't he the one in Spaceballs?

DaNorb on Nov 29, 2014

I AM IN!!!

Szkari on Nov 28, 2014

Why doe JJ has the need to ground every space opera he touches? There's a lot of space out there... But no... let's do it all on a planet you love. Aside of that.. looks pretty cool

Ivan. tih on Nov 28, 2014

Ryan on Nov 28, 2014

AND A REALLY COOL ONE! But without STARs, just wars.

Ivan. tih on Nov 28, 2014

Ryan on Nov 28, 2014

wars wars

Ryan on Nov 28, 2014

Not much you can do or show in 88 seconds....

Scopedog on Nov 30, 2014

This somehow has very unfinished feel to it. It somehow looked a bit cheap like a spoof... And than there's that falcon clip and that sith and and my god everything else that juiced me up big time!

ProjectionistHP on Nov 28, 2014

I can't stand how the Sith or dark side characters are portrayed. "That guy's bad because he's wearing black!" We don't know if the character in black is anything. Light saber color is just based upon crystal's not the type character.

redtie on Nov 28, 2014

Well. Star Wars has allways had very clear good vs bad theme with easily identifiable sides. Witch works nice in this sort of fairytales. If he has red light saber, you know his bad news. And his stance lacks honor and reeks of maleficent, he's def a sith.

ProjectionistHP on Nov 28, 2014

That first voice over sounds a lot like Cumberbatch

Efterklang on Nov 28, 2014

It does sound a bit like Cumby, but not quite.

Movie Bear on Nov 28, 2014

At first I thought it was Harrison Ford. But towards the end, its unrecognizable as to who it is.

theboyd on Nov 28, 2014

It's Andy Serkis.

Wampa Clown on Nov 28, 2014

This was posted in the IGN comments. Hilarious. And so it begins.

I always thought the lightsaber was closer to a samurai sword than a broadsword, bud the new addition surely would make it much more dangerous?

Carpola on Nov 28, 2014

thanks fucking hilarious!

JIm on Nov 28, 2014

Shouldn't Max von Sydow be added to the cast list?

HarryFiddleSticks on Nov 28, 2014

yea or christopher plummer

Jon Odishaw on Nov 28, 2014

I don't think Plummer was part of the cast

HarryFiddleSticks on Nov 28, 2014

right I forgot he was actually in the movie, I thought we were naming people who should be.

Jon Odishaw on Nov 28, 2014

Loved that. There were some beautiful CG shots i.e. the tie fighters above water.

Mr Chatterbox on Nov 28, 2014

The Millennium Falcon chase camera scene was stunning!

John Guymon on Nov 28, 2014

Those were X-wing's.

DaNorb on Nov 29, 2014

Nice FX effects we haven't seen the likes of. I'm glad Lucas is done in that with a fresh Force attached to these projects we might lose the Ewoks BS and go with a "R" rating type seriousness.

John Guymon on Nov 28, 2014

I just want an "R" for rating type radical. "Guardians of the Galaxy" reminded me of how jaded I have been against fun movies.

redtie on Nov 28, 2014

Tie fighters! Welcome back!

TheOct8pus on Nov 28, 2014

The game was just recently re-released.

redtie on Nov 28, 2014

I'm digging the light saber...or, is that a light broadsword???

theslayer5150 on Nov 28, 2014

Really like the updated stormtrooper uniforms, those caught my eye in their brief look. Gotta say though, the trailer looked a little too choppy for me to get too excited yet with still a year until the release.

cooper on Nov 28, 2014

The choppiness is really annoying. But that's one way JJ creates tension, by showing you tiny snippets and lots of darkness.

TheOct8pus on Nov 28, 2014

Yes, that too. Modern Stormtroopers, yet not bastardized...still a classic look to them.

theslayer5150 on Nov 28, 2014

Starship Enterprise of Millennium Falcon?

Joker's hideout on Nov 28, 2014

Falcon. Hands down.

TheOct8pus on Dec 2, 2014

I never truly realized how much Star Wars meant to me until this trailer made me misty eyed. I was speechless after watching it.

Chris Groves on Nov 28, 2014

I got goosebumps all over! šŸ˜€

D6 on Nov 28, 2014

Am I the only one who thinks that lightsaber looks silly? It's dangerous to have those two beams right on the hilt, which could severely damage you if it touches your arm while you are fighting. Totally impractical

Lagoya on Nov 28, 2014

DaveLister_JMC on Nov 28, 2014

I don't care, this is the first time theyve done more than just a colored beam of light as the actual CGI, it looks damn scary now.

Ryan on Nov 28, 2014

Exactly. I love how rough and jagged it looks and sounds.

David Diaz on Nov 28, 2014

It's anything but impractical. It's a sword hilt. Very useful I would say.

David Diaz on Nov 28, 2014

Have you considered that it could be used in two modes with hilt blades on and off leading to two different fighting styles.

Rauncor on Nov 28, 2014

I don't really get why the teaser starts with that goofy guy, but the rest of it looks pretty damned good...

cuckoozey on Nov 28, 2014

Well that goofy guy is one of the new main characters

David Diaz on Nov 28, 2014

Wow, huh? Thanks.

cuckoozey on Nov 28, 2014

Goofy? He looks distressed to me, probably should wait until you see the scene in the context of the rest of the film

cg on Nov 28, 2014

Upon reflection goofy probably isnt the right word but it is a strange introduction to this new star wars world.

Jon Odishaw on Dec 2, 2014

No problem. If you've never seen John Boyega in anything, check out Attack the Block. Fun British sci-fi film.

David Diaz on Nov 28, 2014

I actually did see that, guess I didn't recognize him from it...

cuckoozey on Nov 28, 2014

Yeah he's the main character. He also had a small part in the latest season of 24.

All we saw was basically a special effects reel. Need more from a trailer to get excited. At this point Jurassic World looks better.

ion677 on Nov 28, 2014

keep in mind this is very much a "Teaser", while jurrasic world was more along the lines of a traditional trailer.

Ryan on Nov 28, 2014

Yes but I felt they still kept a lot from us

Jon Odishaw on Nov 28, 2014

It's over a year away so it's not really that surprising.

JC on Nov 28, 2014

I was referring to the Jurassic world teaser. I mean they really didnt show us anything we didnt know or expect.

Jon Odishaw on Nov 28, 2014

motha fu**ing TRAINED RAPTORS!!!

Ryan on Nov 28, 2014

Well yea but they didnt explicitly say they were trained raptors. We think that based off rumours/assumptions.

JJi is the best on Nov 28, 2014

There isn't much one can determine from this teaser, save one thing: it truly feels like the Star Wars universe we once loved from long ago. I enjoyed seeing the new cast members. I also enjoyed seeing an old friend in the Falcon. I'm also fully prepared to laugh at all the story-line rumors and speculation that will rise from this teaser that will later be false. I will also snicker at the hundreds of hours people will put into a frame by frame analysis searching for eater eggs that don't exist and evaluating what's happening in the background of every shot. May the force be with us all.

Quanah on Nov 28, 2014

Here's to snickering!!!

JJi is the best on Nov 28, 2014

I'm saying it again... I'm still trying to figure out why people are complaining about the lightsaber... are you kidding me, that thing is BAD ASS!!!! Look at that intense blade!!! And the little side sabers are cool as shit. The purpose of them?? Who gives a shit!! They are awesome. After watching this trailer a couple dozen times I see the whole sword and it reminds me of one of those big ass knight swords from Game of Thrones!! My friend thinks the dude talking sounds like Benedict Cumberbatch... here's hoping he is a surprise character and the sith we see!! That would be TITS!!! THANK YOU DISNEY AND THANK YOU JJ!!!!!

JJi is the best on Nov 28, 2014

Xerxexx on Nov 28, 2014

I give a shit, I think it's stupid and impractical. From a usability point of view having those small blades on the hilt will most probably cut your own arm off while you wield it around. Having to constantly think about how you are holding it so as not to damage yourself while fighting will be a handicap. If they were angled at 45 degrees towards the main beam then maybe it would be a bit more practical, but being perpendicular to the handle you will be disadvantaged when up against a foe with a regular lightsaber. It's like one of those Gillete razors with 5 blades when 2 blades are fine.

Lagoya on Nov 29, 2014

Unfortunately what it demonstrates is 'coolness' over practicality. The makers are clearly more interested in securing ooohs and aaahs from the hordes of zealous fans rather than telling a decent cohesive yarn. Forget that it doesn't make sense, just look how cool it looks. No different really than obliterating your view with ridiculous lens flare or tiresome shakey cam. Sizzle over substance.

Payne by name on Nov 29, 2014

So you seen the movie and you know how its used? I didn't think so, so comment on things you actually know about

Trey on Nov 29, 2014

What I know is what I feel. And that's what a trailer does, elicit an emotive response to encourage you to see something based on what you've seen or at least form an opinion on whether you want to see it. Given the director's previous usage of lens flare and shakey cam and use of cool stuff to paper over a weak story (a la Star Trek) I believe I'm forming an opinion with a solid agenda. Just as the trailer obtained a reaction that encourages you to piss your pants and swoop on others who dare voice an opinion counter to yours.

Payne by name on Dec 5, 2014

So....when did you join the Jedi order? Why not wait to see the film to get an idea about how this new lightsaber works? And a similar lightsaber has already been shown in the SW comics.

Scopedog on Nov 29, 2014

Hey, keep my Gillette Fusion Pro-Glide out of this!!!

kitano0 on Nov 29, 2014

How do you know they are blades? They are on for like 2 secs.. I`m actually leaning more towards some kind of exhaust /overload pipes.. cause this guy/or the guy/gal who made the saber isnt probably good at it..but engineering skills comes a long way šŸ˜‰

ErrorSapiens on Nov 30, 2014

That's exactly what I thought when I first saw them.

Jeff Prioleau on Dec 12, 2014

If hilts got in the way of people using swords, they wouldn't have been built that way for hundreds of years. They are designed for blocking so I'm sure we'll see that in this Sith's style of combat.

David Diaz on Dec 1, 2014

Yeh, but when a steel quillon clips your fore arm during a swing or twirl, your arm is not cleaved and cauterized.

Brian Sleider on Dec 2, 2014

Yeah but dude, we are talking about a Sith Lord here. They are masters with their weapon. They aren't going to accidentally hurt themselves with it. If that's the case there should be a lot Jedi and Sith with missing limbs from all their light saber use.

David Diaz on Dec 2, 2014

This is not a trained force user, IMO, this is a force adept person. In no way a master, a lord only by default. To be clear I think the weapon is sweet and do not mind the cross-guard, AT ALL.

Brian Sleider on Dec 2, 2014

True, probably not a master. But I just figure since every Jedi or Sith create their own lightsaber, he or she included a hilt for a reason. And since it looks like some thought was put into how raw the light looks and sounds, the same thought was put into why the hilt is there, rather than it just looking cool and different.

David Diaz on Dec 2, 2014

I hope so as well, I hope JJ didnt just say "well it needs to look cooler than the old ones" (which is does). I think it is a defensive measure to account for poor saber skills.

Brian Sleider on Dec 2, 2014

I am truly giddy!

Xerxexx on Nov 28, 2014

Quanah on Nov 28, 2014

Is it just me or does the helmet look a little weird? I'm ok with updates and think the stormtrooper helmet looked cool but something about this one just doesn't feel right to me.

cooper on Nov 29, 2014

A black storm trooper? That's racist.

Trey Wilson on Nov 28, 2014

When I saw the Millenium Falcon a huge smile ran across my face and I started crying. I felt a great sense of joy and intensity.

Andrew on Nov 28, 2014

What's with all the lightsaber hate? Most of the Jedi and the Sith construct their personal lightsabers. Very few just happen to acquire one, but even if they did I'm sure they learn to maintenance it and modify it. Jedi and Sith also train in a variety of fighting styles suitable to them, and they're lightsabers reflect those styles; hell they even enhance those styles. Basically, don't sweat over this Sith guy here because trust me, he knows how to use that lightsaber.

Dimius on Nov 29, 2014

Terry Craig on Nov 29, 2014

Considering the age of Leia, Luke and Han in this film, and considering that the Rebels won in the last movie.....why are there still TIE fighters and Stormtroopers. Little disappointed that he's bringing the Empire back, instead of something original.

Scott on Nov 29, 2014

Not only that, how did Empire remnants have resources to redesign and mas produce new Storm Trooper armor.

Brian Sleider on Dec 2, 2014

It looks like a typical Disney movie for kids, and for mindless drones, who will pay anything at the cinemas, that is associated with Star Wars. I had thought there would be less CGI in it and lo an behold we see images...?

I cannot get over how corny the first 2 scenes of the trailer are. The first one is out of a cheese ball horror and the second out of some shitty pixar movie. The rest of the trailer is Mint. I cannot watch the the Dogfight at the end with out smiling and giggling. But the opening.....terrible.
