Lars von Trier

Briefly: After directing controversial and sexually charged films like Antichrist and the two-part Nymphomaniac, auteur filmmaker Lars von Trier is looking to get some action of a different kind. Speaking with ScreenDaily, producer Peter Aalbaek Jensen has revealed that von Trier is working on his own version of an action movie. However, the prospect of an action movie in the hands of von Trier is all we have to get excited about right now because there are no more details. There have also been rumblings that von Trier is working on a horror script, tentatively called Detroit, and that could be truly terrifying.

Woah, I couldn't wait to see his sci-fi flick and it turned out great so bring on the action! I love Von Trier and can't wait to see Nymphomaniac .

Also, the thought of him directing a horror movie is pretty exciting as well. I was always hoping David Lynch would direct a horror. If he won't, maybe Von Trier will.

But he already did with Antichrist :)

Yes, I suppose you could call Antichrist horror. To me, it's more like Cronenberg's Dead Ringers kind of horror. I want to see Von Trier make a b-movie type horror with a good old fashion monster in the basement. Zulawski's Possession comes to mind. That would be great.
          • He directed a danish horror/ghost story/comedy called "Kingdom" in the nineties. Still some of his best work in my opinion 😉

I love how he keeps changing genres, just like Kubrick did. Big fan of course I'll watch this and any feature projects.

Ah, I must say it does me heart good to see so many positive comments on this site from people who embrace von Trier's work. It gets me all weary at times reading all the excitement over monster movies, super hero movies and CGI filled movies for the masses. I'm glad folks enjoy those types of movies, but when it dominates the field as much as it does it cool to see recognition of a complicated and complex filmmaker such as von Trier. Way to go, guys!
