Oliver Megaton Back for 'Taken 3' & Forest Whitaker Will Join the Fun
After taking a surprisingly good action thriller in Taken and running it into the ground hard with Taken 2, Fox is finally making moves to get Taken 3 (Taken Not Stirred) off the ground. All right, that's not the real title, but why not go for the gold? Anyway, Deadline has word that Olivier Megaton will be back to direct the third film in the action franchise starring Liam Neeson and Maggie Grace, and that's not exactly the best news since the sequel was pretty terrible. Neeson and Grace will both be back (can't wait to see how they shoehorn Bryan Mills daughter into the plot this time), but a new face is joining the action this time.
Forest Whitaker (Panic Room, The Butler) will have a role in Taken 3 (You Must MisTaken), but it's not clear if he will have a villain role or work with Neeson on the right side of the law. The series has become quite the impressive box office performer, but by now, even the most simple-minded audience are probably getting bored with the premise. Yes, Neeson is a fun badass (he closed a $20 million deal for the threequel last year), but this is just getting old now (no pun intended). Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen are supposed to write the script, so let's hope they come up with something good any maybe end the series.
