Star Trek

Briefly: Paramount has confirmed via Deadline that the next Star Trek sequel will be hitting theaters in July 2016. Yesterday it was revealed that Fast Five / Fast & Furious 6 director Justin Lin had scored the job of directing the highly anticipated sequel after Roberto Orci stepped down. For weeks there were rumors that Jonathan Frakes (aka Commander Riker) might also be in consideration, but they went with Justin Lin instead. Now that he's on-board and ready to direct, they can confirm and announce the release date - July 8th, 2016, a week before The Bourne Betrayal and a week after David Yates' Tarzan is released. Additional details have yet to be confirmed, but it sounds like they're anxious to get this going. "Sulu, let's go home."

Meh. I wish they would just turn this into a TV show already.

I do still enjoy the movies, but can't fathom why there hasn't been another TV series since Enterprise. Seems like free money. Especially with the resurgence of "geek culture" in the past few years.

I dunno, I'm happy about this still.
      Me too!

The writer is the same of Into Darkness, Spiderman and Transformers. He is solid, but we don't know what kind of solid he is...

They should reboot the rebooted movies into Disney characters.
