Quick Third Trailer for Spielbergian Sci-Fi Adventure 'Earth to Echo'

May 28, 2014

Earth to Echo

"We're gonna get you home, all right? We'll find a way." Since Super 8 didn't quite deliver the highest quality sci-fi tale inspired by the work of Steven Spielberg, director Dave Green is going to give it a shot with a modern narrative spin. The theatrical trailer for Earth to Echo showed off the film that feels like a blend of Chronicle, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial and Super 8 all rolled into one. The only new ground that seems to be covered is from the visual spectacle of the powers that Echo seems to have over Earth's machines. These kid actors look to be pretty damn good too, so this may be a summer surprise. Watch it!

Here's the quick new trailer for Dave Green's Earth to Echo from YouTube:

Earth to Echo is directed by Dave Green and written by Henry Gayden, both short filmmakers in their feature debut. When a group of young friends begin to receive bizarre encrypted messages on their cellphones, they embark on an incredible adventure to discover the meaning behind these communications. Soon enough, they realize that the messages they are receiving are from a mysterious being from another world -  one who desperately needs their help. Teo Halm, Brian "Astro" Bradley, Reese Hartwig and Ella Linnea Wahlestedt star in the film which Relativity Media will send to theaters on July 2nd this summer.

  • A little tired of the "found footage" style of filmmaking. But it still looks solid.

Agreed. The "selfie cam" scenes of kids going on an adventure, make it look like a cheap Disney TV movie at first. But my interest lifted when the effects kicked in, and it began to seem bigger and more cinematic. Super 8 was pretty good, apart from the stupid, cuddly ending.
    Really dig this. DIG!

Super 8 was incredible. I don't get the hate for that movie at all. This movie looks fantastic too.

This really does look like it could be a great movie. The child actors do seem to have some great talent, that one second scene when the kid was crying? Sent shivers down me spine! I can't wait for this movie.
