Ridley Scott's 'The Martian' Adds Chiwetel Ejiofor & The Winter Soldier
For a film that primarily focuses on an astronaut (Matt Damon) who is stranded in a colony on Mars and struggles to survive, hoping he can last long enough for NASA to organize a rescue mission, there sure seems to be a lot of supporting cast members signing on to The Martian. Director Ridley Scott is at the helm of the film written by Cabin in the Woods scribe Drew Goddard, which starts shooting next month, and EW has learned three more names have just joined the film. Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Mackenzie Davis (That Awkward Moment) are on board.
No word on who the three new cast members will be playing, but there have already been a lot of NASA personnel cast with Sean Bean recently taking the role of a NASA flight director and Jeff Daniels as the director of NASA dealing with the aforementioned crisis. The rest of the cast also includes Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Kristen Wiig and Donald Glover. This is a pretty great line-up of actors and it would be nice to see Scott back on top of his game after struggling to make truly great films over the past decade. His next is Exodus: Gods & Kings this Christmas, but The Martian arrives November 25th, 2015.
