Sam Smith Reportedly Set to Sing Theme Song for 'James Bond 24'
If you know anything about James Bond, it's that the theme song is one of the most iconic parts of the film franchise, and it really sets the mood for the film as a whole. There are some classics out there from films like Live and Let Die and Goldfinger, while more recent efforts haven't quite measure up like the songs for The World is Not Enough and Tomorrow Never Dies (I actually enjoyed the weird track for Die Another Day). Personally, I've found all of the songs done for each Daniel Craig installment of James Bond to be solid, and now we may have word on who will sing the new theme for the untitled 24th spy adventure.
Page Six is reporting that chart-topping recording artist Sam Smith will sing the theme:
You've probably heard that tune "Stay with Me" on the radio, and Smith is certainly one of the more talented singers on the radio today. Reportedly Smith has already beaten out contender Lana Del Rey for the job, though she lobbied hard to get the gig. Honestly, I'm surprised that Lorde wasn't in the running to sing the song for the film since her voice seems to be a perfect match for the tone these jazzy themes usually take on. Maybe Sony Pictures didn't want Lorde since she's already providing tracks for Lionsgate's The Hunger Games franchise soundtracks. Consider this a rumor for now, but if true, it's not a bad choice. Agreed?
