Scarlett Johansson Joining Coen Brothers' Next Film 'Hail Caesar'
The cast of Joel & Ethan Coen's forthcoming film Hail Caesar already counts George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes as part of the cast, but it's about to get a little sweeter. Variety has word that Scarlett Johansson is currently in talks to take a role, and it's one that she may have some familiarity with in her real life. The film will see her playing an actress who suddenly becomes pregnant as one of her films is about to go into production. Johansson herself announced this past March that she was pregnant, and it sounds like she'll still be that way when the film shoots this fall. More below!
However, it sounds like Johansson's role won't be very big, mostly because this is a comedy with an ensemble cast, and she'll likely be a small but pivotal cog in the machine. For those who may not be following the development of this project, it takes place in 1950s Hollywood with Clooney playing a fixer who keeps the stars of major movie studios in line and out of controversy. Johansson, who will be seen later this month in Lucy, is some great icing on this already delicious cake that the Coens' are preparing, and there might be even more names on the horizon as well.
UPDATE: The Wrap also reports that Jonah Hill has been cast in the film, but it's unclear if he'll share any scenes with 22 Jump Street co-star Channing Tatum. As of now, Hill's role is being kept under wraps, but this is another awesome gig for the actor, consistently working with some of the best directors today.
