The Longest Ride

Another year, another Nicholas Sparks movie is coming to theaters for people who just can't get enough of cheesy melodrama and romance. Given the flare of recording artist Hozier and a bit more sexiness along with the struggles of love, The Longest Ride at least slightly different from the fare we've come to expect from the author of The Notebook, Dear John and Safe Haven. There's a split love story here just like The Notebook, but with two different couples, one from today (Scott Eastwood & Britt Roberteson) and one from the past (Jack Huston & Oona Chaplin). It's about what you would expect from a movie like this, but it seems like Sparks is drawing characters from a hat. Here's a bull rider and an art student! Watch?

Here's the first trailer for George Tillman Jr.'s The Longest Ride from 20th Century Fox:

The Longest Ride is directed by George Tillman Jr. (Men of Honor, Soul Food, Notorious) and written by Craig Bolotin (Light It Up, That Night), based on the novel by Nicolas Sparks. The story follows the star-crossed love affair between Luke (Scott Eastwood), a former champion bull rider looking to make a comeback, and Sophia (Britt Robertson), a college student who is about to embark upon her dream job in New York City’s art world.  As conflicting paths and ideals test their relationship, Sophia and Luke make an unexpected and fateful connection with Ira, whose memories of his own decades-long romance with his beloved wife deeply inspire the young couple. 20th Century Fox releases the film April 10th, 2015. Well?
