November 17, 2014

Inherent Vice

"It's not groovy to be insane." For those of you living in the United Kingdom, specifically London, this week you'll get a chance to catch early screenings of Paul Thomas Anderson's latest film, the adaptation of Thomas Pynchon's novel Inherent Vice. A short new trailer shows off some new footage of the film starring Joaquin Phoenix, and it's actually more of a straightforward comedy trailer than the one we've already seen for the film's release here in the United States. We get to catch a glimpse of Martin Short and whatnot, but the real takeaway is the revelation of a surprise screening happening this Wednesday. Watch!

Here's the short new UK trailer for P.T. Anderson's Inherent Vice from All Rose Promotions:

Inherent Vice will be shown at the Prince Charles Cinema in London on Wednesday at 7 PM and 10:15 PM. (Or at 19:00 and 22:15 if you prefer.) Both screenings benefit The Film Foundation. Tickets are on sale now for the one-time event right here. and if you haven't seen the full trailer, you can still watch it right here.

Described as "a Cheech and Chong movie", Inherent Vice is an adaptation of Thomas Pynchon's novel about stoner private eye Doc Sportello in a 1970's "part noir, part psychedelic romp" detective story. In Los Angeles in 1970, drug-fueled detective Doc Sportello investigates the disappearance of a former girlfriend. The cast is led by Joaquin Phoenix, but also includes Josh Brolin and Katherine Waterston. Warner Bros premieres the Paul Thomas Anderson film at the NY Film Festival now underway and it hits select theaters starting December 12th later this year, before going wide in January.
