'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For' Cut is Done & 'Sin City 3' Already Planned
We already know that Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (which might end up throwing Frank Miller's name into the official title) is coming later this summer on August 22nd. It was originally slated for release last October, but director Robert Rodriguez wasn't going to be done with the visual effects heavy film in time. Now word from Rodriguez comes from an interview with Sirius XM's Ron and Fez Show (via Collider) that the cut of the film is finished, and now all the effects just need to be done. We're hoping that means we'll get a trailer soon, but the exciting news is that Frank Miller is already talking about Sin City 3 in the works.
Here's what Rodriguez said on the radio show:
“The second 'Sin City'– I was just here with Frank Miller last night and we were watching it last night. [We] finished the cut, effects are being done, it will come out in August.
[Miller] watched Part 2—he watched it last night with me and then at the end he said, he didn’t have any comments, he was very happy with it. And he said, now about part three…. Started telling me how he’s going to do part three. So he’s already there on part three.”
Of course, whether or not we see Sin City 3 hit the big screen will depend on whether this sequel does well at the box office. After all, the first film came out in 2005 and only pulled in about $158 million worldwide on a $40 million budget. Plus, it's an R-rated flick, so that doesn't bode well. But maybe the line-up of names including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Eva Green, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Dennis Haysbert, Christopher Meloni, Jeremy Piven, Ray Liotta and Juno Temple will get people in the seats. Are you excited?
