Universal & Legendary Sign New Deal with IMAX for 'Warcraft' & More

June 5, 2014

Legendary Pictures / Universal Pictures / IMAX

Just in case you were worried there wouldn't be enough films hitting the big, big screen over the next few years. Legendary Pictures and their new studio Universal Pictures just announced a new deal with IMAX to release up to 15 of their upcoming films on the giant screen through 2017. This includes forthcoming films like Dracula Untold coming this fall, The Seventh Son finally arriving in February of 2015, followed by Fast & Furious 7 in April and Jurassic World in June. Other films like the mountain climbing drama Everest, Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak and Duncan Jones' Warcraft are included.

That leaves eight other films open for potential IMAX released, and there's plenty of other tentpoles that will likely take advantage of this new deal. Universal Filmed Entertainment Chairman Jeff Shell gave the standard publicity fluff saying, "For many years now, our fans have been able to see Universal films on IMAX and we are thrilled that we will be able to make this offering on so many of our upcoming titles." Undoubtedly 2015 is going to be one of the biggest blockbuster summer's in the history of film, so stay tuned to find out what other films will hit IMAX screens as well.
