Red Knot

Now that we've gotten all the buzz about the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens out of the way (see where it's playing this weekend right here), it's time to look at a little indie romance on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. "Mad Men" star Vincent Kartheiser and Juno supporting actress Olivia Thirlby star in the film chronicling the rocky relationship of a newly married couple as they take a trip on a research vessel bound for Antarctica. There's beautiful imagery and a promising, quiet and intimate drama here as what starts as a makeshift honeymoon slowly begins to unravel a couple's love. Watch the trailer!

Here's the first trailer for Scott Cohen's Red Knot from the film's YouTube page:

Red Knot is directed by Scott Cohen, making his feature directorial and writing debut. Peter (Vincent Kartheiser of "Mad Men") and Chloe (Olivia Thirlby of Juno) are a young married couple who jump at the chance to satisfy their wanderlust by taking a belated honeymoon aboard a research vessel bound for Antarctica. As they travel further south, the relationship, like the icy landscapes that surround them, begins to crack and shift, exposing the poles within each of us and the dangerous fault lines that lay just below the surface. The film premieres in New York on December 5th, but doesn't have an official release date yet.

Thirlby has one of the most difficult last names to pronounce. I always want to say "Thrill-bee." // It is hard to see Kartheiser and NOT think of him as the sniveling, little bitch from MAD MEN.
