April 18, 2014

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

In a couple short weeks, we'll see how Columbia Pictures new plans for an expanded cinematic universe for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 kick off when the blockbuster sequel hits theaters. Of course, the film is already hitting all sorts of international markets, so be careful with spoilers online. In the meantime, check out a cool 10-minute interview special with Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx and director Marc Webb as they discuss the making of the film and their characters. It's strangely serious, almost like a documentary short film. Plus, there's a cool featurette on the sequel's score from composer Hans Zimmer.

Here's the 10-minute interview special for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 from Film 4:

And here's the featurette on the score with composer Hans Zimmer from Sony Pictures UK:

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is directed by Marc Webb and written by Jeff Pinker, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds, life is busy between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away, but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past. Sony will release Amazing Spider-Man 2 in theaters starting on May 2nd. Are you excited yet?

Yeah, this movie is going to suck. Sony is desperately pushing this movie too much. Do us a favor and give the property back to Marvel Studios.

Mario why don't you wait until you see the movie then you wont sound like such a whinny child! The movie was if you excuse the pun "Amazing" they have the action done to perfection and Spidey seems to jump right out of one of his comics with all of his humour and witty one liners lol. There is more of the backstory revealed as well as some major secrets about what his father was really doing at Oscorp and why he had to leave Peter with Ben & May, there are also some new character's from the comics introduced but sadly no MJ in site, this was all about Peter and Gwen and how he tries to deal with breaking the promise that he made to Gwen's father at the end of the last film. I really enjoyed this and intend to go again before it leaves the Cinema.

I'm not sounding like a whinny child, just giving letting you know how I feel about it. It's ridiculous how much money Sony is dumping into advertisement for the movie. Why? Spiderman is one of the most recognizable figures worldwide. They been pushing ads at us since the end of last year and I have to say that the footage I have seen doesn't look impressive at all. I think Sony doesn't have any faith in the movie at all. The CG work on the footage that's out there looks unreal. I could be wrong, but I'm just giving my two cents. I enjoyed the first one, I hope they don't blow it with this one.

I saw it over the weekend and went in with a prejudice against the CGI I saw in the trailers. But if I think back over my viewing experience, I must say I never thought about the CGI 15 minutes into the film. For me, the portrayal of Spider-Man in TASM 2 was one of the best ones yet and to me it felt like the Spider-Man from the comics and cartoons I grew up with. It's far from a perfect movie, that's for sure, but it's near the top of my list as far as Spider-Man movies go. I hope you'll feel the same or atleast enjoy the film :-)

No spoilers but its an "ok" film. It ticks the boxes but doesnt bring anything new to the table

Seen this in a preview screening and it's pretty bad and just like Fenris says, there's nothing new to see here. It's a mediocre action flick from start to finish.
