The Gray Ghost Short Film

"Remember kid: this is the only law left in this town." Damn this is cool. A couple of friends, who grew up with Batman as their childhood hero, have decided to make a short film inspired by the classic 1992 episode of Batman: The Animated Series, 'Beware The Gray Ghost'. Titled The Gray Ghost, this short film chronicles the live-action adventures of "The Gray Ghost" aka Simon Trent. In the original animated series, Trent (voiced by Adam West) is depicted as a down-on-his-luck actor who was typecast for life playing a masked avenger on a black-and-white serialized TV show. This short film plays like a "lost reel" from the old serialized show, and it's very well done for something some friends made in their spare time. Check this out!

From their Vimeo page: Heart-Beat Productions presents a short film Directed by J.L. Topkis and Written by Matt Landsman. "We are filmmakers with a life-long passion for Bruce Timm’s Batman: The Animated Series." They explain that in the episode, "Batman was searching for a lost reel the TV show in order to solve a copycat crime. Our film presents The Gray Ghost as an actual television show that Bruce Wayne would have watched as a child." Both Emerson College Graduates in 2012, The Gray Ghost is the second collaboration between Jake Topkis and Matt Landsman - their first project was In Searching. "This is an independent, non-profit, artistic expression created purely for fun." Good work. What do you think?

Awesome! Anyone else bummed that Hush hasn't been featured?
  • I've been watching Batman Beyond a lot this week and there's an episode about the villain Ink in the first season where she gets into the Batcave and bruce puts on his old grey ghost mask and hat in order to protect his identity since Terry is wearing the suit. It's such a nice throw back.
    SIN CITY!!!
I hope they make another one. Maybe Machinima can do some good.

Anyone else think that THE DARK KNIGHT RISES shouldve been not only Knightfall but been a full on adaptation of MASK OF THE PHANTASM? thinking of it it wouldve been perfect continuing the war on the mob etc
