Watch: Irrfan Khan Sends Notes in Sundance's 'The Lunchbox' Trailer
Indian actor Irrfan Khan has made quite a name for himself in the United States. While he started with roles in The Namesake and The Darjeeling Limited, he's taken pivotal roles in The Amazing Spider-Man and Life of Pi. Now he's on the indie scene with the Sundance Film Festival selected drama The Lunchbox. The story follows Khan as Saajan, a lonely accountant on the verge of retirement who receives a message from a married woman, originally intended for her husband who works at the same office, in his lunchbox. The two begin a pen-pal relationship that may have more of an impact than either intended. Watch below!
Here's the first trailer for Ritesh Batra's The Lunchbox, originally from Apple:
A mistaken delivery in Mumbai's famously efficient lunchbox delivery system (Mumbai's Dabbawallahs) connects a young housewife (Nimrat Kaur) to a stranger (Irrfan Khan) in the dusk of his life. They build a fantasy world together through notes in the lunchbox, sharing personal feelings and form a relationship, despite having never met. Gradually, this fantasy threatens to overwhelm their reality. Written and directed by Ritesh Batra, The Lunchbox premiered at the 2013 Cannes Film Fesival, and played the 2014 Sundance Film Festival before opening in New York and Los Angeles on February 28th, and other theaters later.
