"How did we end up here in this dump?" If you've been waiting for some kind of Michael Keaton comeback, the time is now. We were hoping roles in films like The Other Guys, Toy Story 3 and Need for Speed would be a resurgence for the star of Beetlejuice and Tim Burton's Batman, but it looks like we just had to wait for the right film. Birdman is directed by 21 Grams, Babel and Amores Perros helmer Alejandro González Iñárritu, and the first trailer has just arrived, showing off what promises to be a truly unique tale of a washed up actor, haunted by his past as a big time superhero movie star. Emma Stone, Zach Galifianakis and Edward Norton pop up, but this is Keaton's movie for sure. Watch now!

Here's the teaser trailer for Alejandro González Iñárritu's Birdman from Fox Searchlight:

And here's a cool poster that accompanied the trailer sent over by Fox Searchlight:

Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance is directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, who co-wrote the script with Nicolás Giacobone & Armando Bo (Biutiful) and newcomer Alexander Dinelaris. The film tells the story of an actor (Michael Keaton), famous for portraying an iconic superhero, as he struggles to mount a Broadway play. In the days leading up to opening night, he battles his ego and attempts to recover his family, his career, and himself. Also starring Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan, Emma Stone, and Naomi Watts, Fox Searchlight releases the film on October 17th this fall.

Wow! Hope this one is as good as it promises. This is looking really interesting. Mark this down... maybe the only time that I will actually be excited for a superhro movie.
    • Bo
Sorry, but this ain't no superhero's a black comedy and a satire, if that's not redundant, on movie stardom, fame, etc. If it even addresses superhero movies it'll be to mock and laugh at them.
  • Avi
wow! great trailer and I am interested in this one!

I don't know. I like this director very much; 21 Grams was just an amazing, rough, gritty, dark and very honest and well done piece of work. This trailer didn't do anything for me and I'm wondering what kind of work Inarritu will turn out without his usual very talented writer who wrote his past films. This sure has a very good cast, what with Keaton and Norton and Naomi Watts and the terrific Amy Ryan; it's interesting that he also has Emma Stone in it. I for sure will go see it as he's one of the most interesting filmmakers working today, but I'm having some serious doubts. Dark comedy and satire is very difficult to pull off and some of this trailer reeks of over the top embarrassment. Well shall see...

Look at Norton getting his back, putting his hooks in and securing the rear naked choke!
