Edge of Tomorrow

After trotting the globe to premiere Edge of Tomorrow with co-star Emily Blunt in three different cities around the world, Tom Cruise wasn't done surprising his fans. The hardest working man in Hollywood went to both Chicago and Toronto last night to drop in on a couple of audiences seeing an advanced screening. His timing couldn't be better with just one week left before the film from Doug Liman hits theaters, and now we can one final trailer to make a last ditch effort to get audiences into the seats. It appears this is actually more of a trailer-length TV spot for the film, but you can still watch it all the same.

Here's the final trailer for Doug Liman's Edge of Tomorrow from Fandango:

Edge of Tomorrow is set in the distant future during war between a race of aliens called Mimics and the human race. A soldier fighting in a war with aliens finds himself caught in a time loop of his last day in the battle, though he becomes better skilled along the way. Tom Cruise plays Lt. Col. Bill Cage, an untrained and ill-equipped officer who is dropped "into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission," but gets stuck in a time loop on the same mission. Doug Liman (Go, Bourne Identity, Jumper) is directing. Warner Bros will release Edge of Tomorrow, formerly All You Need is Kill, in theaters everywhere June 6th this year. This just looks ridiculous, but that's just from my perspective. They're sure spending loads of money in their marketing campaign so I'd think every fanboy from here to Timbuktu will go see this thing. However, I read in the L.A. Weekly or somewhere that the film was heading for trouble; like it isn't tracking well or preview screening haven't been very good. Any one heard anything like that? I think, with total bewilderment, it'll be huge, but something seems amiss. It was shot two years ago or more so something is up. Of course, Cruise fans and folks who like movies like this would seem to flock to it. Ummmm.....

I'm seeing it because it's based off of the Japanese novel All You Need is Kill.

Dimius on May 30, 2014

Well, that's interesting and I understand. Thanks. All You Need Is Kill is certainly a more provocative title that Edge of Tomorrow. It reminds me of an old day time soap opera titled Edge of Night. Bad title. Weird that they changed it from All You Need Is Kill. They probably did some silly market research thing on that title and thought the word Kill was offensive or politically incorrect and thus harmful to their money making endeavors...ha!

Yep, that's why it got this title, was originally going to be the original title haha!

I went in without expectations and honestly, I have to say it wasn't bad, quite enjoyed it (perhaps it's because of the time element which is always interesting to me). Oblivion left a bad Tom Cruise taste in my mouth but this one cleansed it and now my mouth feels minty fresh 🙂

Glad you enjoyed it and now have a minty fresh mouth with regards to Mr. Cruise. I, however, will not and cannot abide all the weird baggage Mr. Cruise carries with him. He's a weird cat and part of a very weird organization of which I know quite a bit about so I avoid him at all that's just me...

Bo on May 31, 2014

Oh I agree, he's definitely as weird as one can get. I try to separate him from his work but I understand if you wouldn't as that organization deserves all the flack it can get (you'd have to amputate my head to get rid of that taste). But if you happen to see it eventually, I can only hope you'll enjoy the movie for what it is.

Neuromancer on Jun 1, 2014

Well, I appreciate your, it's impossible as I'm unwilling to forget how everything this guy and other members of his organization do is towards achieving world domination. I can't and will not forget that and allow myself to me mesmerized by his slam bam CGI action movie shallow nonsense. Ya gotta admit this and the MI movies are pretty nonsensical and require a huge investment in suspending disbelief; one I'm not willing to indulge in. That's just me. I understand your enjoyment. I just draw the line in a different place than's cool...

I saw it at an advance screening last night and liked it a lot. My wife even liked it and she doesn't usually like action movies (or movies with Tom Cruise in them).

Ben Nesvig on Jun 3, 2014

Well, that's interesting. Glad you liked it...and your wife too. How did you manage to drag her to see it if she doesn't like action flicks or Cruise? It's always better to enjoy a film when you go out to see one than to not...that's for sure!

Bo on Jun 3, 2014

She likes Emily Blunt and heard the movie was like a mix of Groundhog Day and the Matrix, two movies she enjoys.

Ben Nesvig on Jun 3, 2014

The first trailer with the Fieldwork song was brilliant. This is a poorly cut trailer and adds nothing to the build up to watch it in the theater.

I loved the book and hey I love me some Cruise control so I'm pumped!
