Snubbed 2014

Unless you were hiding under a rock yesterday or slept a full 24 hours, you probably heard something about the 86th Academy Awards nominations. There was plenty of greatness on the big screen honored, and it's pretty hard to argue with most of the nominees this year. Of course, there are still snubs, and in a competitive year like this, a lot of worthy filmmaking and performances didn't get any love from the Academy. But Nick Bosworth at JoBlo has put together a video honoring many of the snubs that took place this year, like Robert Redford missing Best Actor, Pacific Rim missing out on VFX and more.

Here's Snubbed 2014: An Oscar Tribute from Nick Bosworth and JoBlo:

Personally, the acting nomination snubs are the ones that have me shaking my head. However, it's not because the Academy necessarily got it wrong, but there are so many performances that deserve to be honored. Daniel Bruhl was incredible in Rush, Emma Thompson was astounding in Saving Mr. Banks, and we still think James Franco deserves some love for Spring Breakers too. Plus there's Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal in Prisoners and so many more great performances. It's hard to get mad at the Academy for any of these snubs, but the featured talents and films in this video deserve praise too.

It may be funny to say, but that doc SOUNDED amazing. I mean, they did it justice. Great doc. But I don't know if it was Oscar-worthy.

Personally I found Emma Thompson's performance to be merely "okay." Good in comparison to the rest of the film, but in general.... Eeeeeh...

Oprah wasn't snubbed...she flat our didn't deserve a nomination.

I couldn't agree more. What a terrible, inauthentic actress...and person for that the Universe gets it right!

Oprah is a manifestation of White Guilt. If you actually removed her race from her description she wouldn't have lasted a season on TV. She's a horrible interviewer, lacks charisma and basically runs an infomercial for books and other products.

Interesting take. I certainly am repelled by the woman. Actually she is quite ordinary with a mentality that's quite low and appeals to the mass mentality; that's why she's a billionaire or whatever. Ugh...hate even having to think about her so will halt

I'm glad someone else noticed that Daniel Bruhl wasn't recognized for the great job he did in Rush. Also right on the accounts of Blackfish for the documentary category and Hugh Jackman's work on Prisoners.

Hanks not getting a nom was the most disappointing for me. The scene at the end of CP when he was in shock alone was a masterful achievement in acting.
