Watch: 'Star Wars' Gets the 'Sesame Street' Treatment in Cute Parody
The iconic and long-running children's television program "Sesame Street" clearly has their finger on the pulse of pop culture, and they've helped kids learn helpful things by spoofing films like The Hunger Games and Lord of the Rings. Now they're back with yet another topical parody of Star Wars, using the classic trilogy to teach kids about self-control with none other than Cookie Monster. This Crumby Pictures production is called Star S'Mores, and it takes place in a cookies and milky way galaxy far, far away. And that's just the beginning of the puns and pure goofiness "Sesame Street" brings to the sci-fi saga. Watch!
I love that Cookie Monster (playing Flan Solo here, who almost murders his cookie sidekick Chewie) regularly has his own movie parodies to teach kids lessons, so much that he has that Crumby Pictures production logo play before each one. Having kids recognize funny versions of characters they already love is a great way to teach them important life skills. Plus, it's probably amusing for parents who are at home during the day with their kids too. It's pretty perfect that Grover is the one who stands in place of Yoda, because Frank Oz was the original voice of the "Sesame Street" Muppet and the legendary Jedi master.
