Watch: Stephen Colbert Tries to Pitch Films at Comic-Con in Cosplay
This summer's final Comic-Con panel for The Hobbit trilogy from Peter Jackson featured a special treat in that it was hosted by J.R.R. Tolkien fanatic and late night faux political pundit Stephen Colbert. It featured a passionate speech praising and appreciating what Jackson had done with Lord of the Rings and has attempted to continue with the preceding story of The Hobbit that will conclude this winter with The Battle of the Five Armies. But what was Colbert doing the rest of the time at Comic-Con when he wasn't hosting the Middle-Earth film panel? He revealed his hilarious antics from San Diego last night. Watch!
Here's Stephen Colbert undercover at Comic-Con as Prince Hawkcat from Comedy Central:
Yes, Stephen Colbert took to the convention center (both outside and inside) as the "popular" comic book character Prince Hawkcat. The way they captured the footage of him outside the convention center, with hidden cameras clipped to Comic-Con bags, is pretty impressive. It's certainly amusing, but it's also kind of cool to see people embrace his costume and be excited about his geekiness, even though they have no idea who Prince Hawkcat is at all. But the real gem comes from his two fake movie pitches, where he's clearly pulling a plot out of his ass, and nearly cracks up in the middle of one of his presentations. Too bad we didn't catch Colbert in the act at Comic-Con ourselves. That would have been plain awesome. Funny?
