Watch: 'Terminator 2' Chase Scene Recreated in 'Grand Theft Auto 5'

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

With the reboot Terminator: Genesis on the way (which still has ties to the original franchise storyline), there's no better time to be reminiscing about James Cameron's sci-fi action films. The 25th anniversary of Terminator 2: Judgment Day is just a couple years away, but some fans have paid tribute a little prematurely, and in a very cool way. For those who don't know, the sandbox city in the video game Grand Theft Auto V is called Los Santos, but it's clearly modeled after Los Angeles. And there's a long aqueduct that runs through part of the city where an infamous chase takes place between Arnold Schwarzenegger, Edward Furlong and Robert Patrick. That scene has been near perfectly recreated in the game. Watch!

Here's the scene from Terminator 2: Judgment Day in Grand Theft Auto V (via Annapurna Pictures):

In the description of the video, creator John Chapman says, "It mostly took a lot of time because I wanted to try to make it exact. Yes I may have missed some small scenes but damn we worked hard on this from the actual setting up, to the directing, to the editing so please give it a look..." Very cool of Annapurna Pictures to call attention to this kind of video while they're working on Terminator: Genesis, plus it's smart to keep buzz around Terminator fresh with the film coming in 2015. Now we just want to watch the whole movie.

Very cool recreation of one of the best scenes in that movie. Great job!! You think you guys might be able to do the street scene from the movie Heat with Robert DeNiro. The one right after the first heist where they are all in the street. Would be sweet!

It was entertaining, the t2 audio was a nice touch. As someone who played gta5 & online mode it's a skillful achievement. Most people in gta5 online drove around like coked out douche morons shooting anything in sight, these guys did something cool & constructive. Also, the original gta San andreas had a cool nod to t2 in the river sewer area, in game.
