Watch: 'Transcendence' Videos Highlight the R.I.F.T Anti-Tech Group
Last year some viral marketing began for Wally Pfister's technological thriller Transcendence, introducing the anti-technology terrorist group known as R.I.F.T. (Revolutionary Independence From Technology). Now the group led by Kate Mara gets a couple more viral videos, keying us into the campaign trying to stop Johnny Depp's innovative work on artificial intelligence and human interaction with computers. In addition, there's a new featurette that shows more footage from the film, including the standard talking heads with cast members like Morgan Freeman and Rebecca Hall offering insight.
And here's the new featurette to drum up interest in the film as well:
Transcendence is directed by Wally Pfister (cinematographer on Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy) and written by Jack Paglen, with rewrites by Alex Paraskevas & Jordan Goldberg. Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. When anti-technology extremists threaten his life, they inadvertently trigger a quick move towards his transcendence, and Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. Warner Bros will be releasing Transcendence in theaters starting on April 18th. So?
