Welcome to Yesterday

Once slated for release last month, the found footage time travel adventure Welcome to Yesterday was delayed by Paramount Pictures so the studio could partner with MTV Films (both under the Viacom name) in order to refine the marketing strategy. Paramount wanted to use the MTV connection to reach a bigger teen and college audience, especially after the initial trailer and marketing were testing well already. The film was only supposed to be delayed until the fall, but now Borys Kit of THR has news out of CinemaCon in Las Vegas that the film will now be called Project Almanac and will hit theaters in January 2015 now.

Here's the film's original teaser trailer in case you need a refresher:

The other reason for the delay, though it ended up being removed from the original report, was to give producer Michael Bay "the opportunity to focus on the smaller movie," after he completed production on Transformers: Age of Extinction. Now we're wondering if there are some problems with the story and Paramount doesn't have as much faith in the film as originally thought (January is a dumping ground for bad movies). We're also wondering why the film is changing titles again, since the film was originally just called Almanac. Anyway, we're bummed this film is being pushed back again, but we're hoping for the best.

yea that sucks. I was waiting and waiting for no reason. Welcome to Yesterday was a way better title name than a simple name like Almanac.

Thank god for that. I thought I was doing a bit of quantum travel myself when I recognised the trailer and severe Déjà vu kicked in.
