Will Ferrell & Mark Wahlberg to Reunite for 'Daddy's Home' Comedy
For some reason, we never reported on a developing project called Daddy's Home that would have reteamed Will Ferrell with Wedding Crashers star Vince Vaughn and director Etan Cohen behind the camera. But it doesn't matter, because the film has new life as Deadline reports the film will now actually reteam Ferrell will The Other Guys co-star Mark Wahlberg. But this time, it will be That's My Boy and Horrible Bosses 2 directing duo Sean Anders & John Morris at the helm with production beginning this fall. Paramount must like having Wahlberg around after Transformers: Age of Extinction and Pain & Gain.
Cohen also scripted the film along with Brian Burns, Adam McKay & Chris Henchy with a story that follows Ferrell as a mild-mannered radio executive who strives to become the best step-father ever to his wife’s two children. However, things get a little complicated when their deadbeat, freeloading father (Wahlberg) returns, and each of the grown men have to complete for the affection of the kids. Frankly, it's surprising that Ferrell isn't taking the latter role, but imagining Wahlberg in that capacity is actually even funnier, so I'm sold. I just wish Anders & Morris weren't behind the camera, but we haven't seen Horrible Bosses 2 yet, so I'm willing to give them another shot at achieving quality comedy.
