'Beetlejuice 2' Could Finally Start Shooting Before the End of 2015
There's a lot of buzz surrounding Michael Keaton right now. The actor just won a Golden Globe for his performance in Birdman (he gave a great speech too), and he also just received an Oscar nomination for the film as well. Keaton has already lined up his next project in The Founder, the story of the man who turned McDonald's into a fast food empire, but it sounds like he may also reprise his role as Tim Burton's classic dead showman Beetlejuice before the year is out. Writer Seth Grahame-Smith just had an interview with EW about the various projects he has in the works, and he updated the status of Beetlejuice 2. Read on!
When asked about what's going on with the sequel, Grahame-Smith said:
"I’ve emailed with Michael Keaton. I know he’s excited about the idea. I know Tim is excited about the idea. Where it stands now is Tim’s got to get ready to make ['Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children'], and then hopefully we are set, deals are done, and we’re waiting in the wings ready to go right after 'Peregrine’s' wraps up. The ideal timeline is we’re really getting into it toward the end of this year."
So there's a chance that Beetlejuice 2 could be shooting before 2015 is over? That's surprising and good to hear, but at the same time, Keaton may end up being super busy soon, especially if he wins the Oscar, so I wouldn't say this is a guarantee just yet. But we do know the conversations about the sequel have been ongoing, especially since Tim Burton said recently that Winona Ryder would be back for the film too (which Grahame-Smith confirms). We're cautiously optimistic to see what Burton can do with this revival, and we're just hoping for the best. Are you excited for Beetlejuice 2?
