British Actors Invade American Films in Vanity Fair Short Film Series
If you look at the nominations for the 87th Academy Awards, it's clear that there's a strong British presence this year, especially in the acting categories. Vanity Fair recently noticed this trend, and decided to let photographer Jason Bell create an all-UK edition of the magazine’s annual Hollywood portfolio. And since he already had some fantastic talents like Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, Eddie Redmayne, Felicity Jones, Keira Knightley and more on set, he used the time to create a three-part short film chronicling the British invasion of Hollywood in the style of an old newsreel. Watch below now!
Here's Jason Bell's British invasion short, beginning with "Preparing for War" (via Vanity Fair):
And then moving on to "Coming to America" next:
Then the conclusion "Victory is Assured," which is the real meat of the series:
You can check out the all-UK edition of Vanity Fair's Hollywood portfolio right here.
If you don't have the patience to sit through all three of these shorts (the first two are a little odd), you would be fine just watching the final chapter. In that segment, you'll see Keira Knightley reenacting the famous orgasm scene from When Harry Met Sally, Tom Hiddleston and Felicity Jones as Bonnie and Clyde and more. With as much as we import movies and shows for remakes from the UK, I'm surprised that our friends across the pond don't remake our own shows and films for their own entertainment. Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing remakes of some of our best films with these top British talents starring. Thoughts?
