Denzel Washington & 'The Equalizer' Are Confirmed for a Sequelizer

April 23, 2015

The Equalizer

Briefly: Back in February of 2014, months before The Equalizer had hit theaters, Sony Pictures was said to already be working on a sequel to the action thriller starring Denzel Washington. And at CinemaCon last night, the studio confirmed that the follow-up will indeed be moving forward with the script still coming from the first film's writer, Richard Wenk (The Expendables 2, Mechanic). Washington will be back in the led role, and he'll likely be the only returning cast member from the first film. As for director Antoine Fuqua, it's not clear if he'll be back behind the camera, but we'll see how long this one takes to develop.

Cool, first one was fun enough.

I liked Equalizer, but thought it suffered a bit because none of his enemies ever came across as a threat. It lacked any real tension. I hope the sequel brings along a more dangerous set of villains that can match his wit, and make him vulnerable.

Haha I see what you did there :)
I need to have a grittier score. Like Daft Punk meets The Budos Band.

First one was badass. Hope Fuqua returns to it.

This is extremely surprising, Denzel has never done a sequel in his entire career. Is it that good of a story or are they just paying Denzel enough money to finally get him to do a sequel?
