Emma Watson in 'Beauty and the Beast' Again, This Time at Disney

January 26, 2015

Emma Watson

Way back in 2011, Harry Potter franchise star Emma Watson was attached to a new adaptation of Beauty and the Beast from director Guillermo del Toro. However, in the years since, the film has never really gained any traction in development, mostly because del Toro is just too busy. At one time Watson was also supposed to head to Disney to lead their live-action Cinderella adaptation, but she never closed a deal. Well, now she's headed to the House of Mouse for real this time as Disney has just announced that she has now signed on to lead their new live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast being directed by Bill Condon.

Disney just announced the news in a press release saying production is slated to begin sometime later this year. It's a little fortuitous that Watson is boarding the project considering the writer of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, in which she had a pivotal supporting role, did the most recent draft of the script. And we'll get to hear Watson sing in the film since this adaptation is supposed to use most of the songs written by Alan Menken, Tim Rice and Howard Ashman from the stage play and the animated Disney film. Now the question is what will be the next Disney classic to get a live-action adaptation?

REALLY??? Absolutly boring...Disney got no ideas anymore. Maleficent was so bad. Can't handle that feel when they destroy their old Masterpieces 😀 I know no one, who likes that movies. But they must do well in boxoffice.
