'Frozen 2' is Officially in the Works with Jennifer Lee & Chris Buck

March 12, 2015

Even though co-directors Jennifer Lee & Chris Buck recently revealed they have no idea what to do for a sequel to their hit animated musical Frozen, that's not stopping Disney from officially announcing Frozen 2. Hot on the heels of news of the release for Star Wars: Episode VIII and the title of the first Star Wars spin-off, Disney also made development of the sequel official when Disney CEO Bob Iger, John Lasseter and the film's co-star Josh Gad announced the news at a shareholders meeting today. However, at this point, there's no word on a release date, story or anything like that; Disney is creating early hype. Read on!

John Lasseter seems to contradict Lee & Buck, who could have easily been playing coy about Frozen 2 earlier this week, when he says, "We enjoyed making Frozen Fever so much and being back in that world with those characters. Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it and we’re taking you back to Arendelle. We are so excited about that.” But again, this is an animated movie, so we'll be waiting at least a couple years to see this one. This comes just as the animated short Frozen Fever will debut in front of screenings of Cinderella starting this evening around the country. Here's hoping the story really does live up to the inevitable hype.

Ugh. Can't they just let it go?
I will be sincerely surprised if they can top the first one in terms of the songs (the only good parts of the first film). Should at least be okay.
