Jessica Chastain is Joining 'The Huntsman' with Chris Hemsworth
It sounds like there's going to be some powerful female talent for The Huntsman, the prequel to the 2012 fantasy adventure Snow White and the Huntsman. Chris Hemsworth is returning in the title role, with Charlize Theron back as Queen Ravenna, and Emily Blunt was previously reported to join the cast as a new villain as well. Now Deadline reports A Most Violent Year and Interstellar star Jessica Chastain is joining the cast as a love interest for Hemsworth's character. This is such a great cast, but the dullness of the first film is keeping me from actually being excited to see what they do in this stark fairytale universe. Read on!
This prequel takes place before Snow White ever crosses paths with Ravenna and will follow the huntsman Eric as he is sent on a quest to find the stolen magic mirror, which puts him on a path to face something from his past, in addition to the evil Snow Queen (Blunt), the sister of Ravenna (Theron). In addition, Nick Frost has struck a deal to return as Nion the dwarf, and there's supposed to be one more dwarf with a pivotal role too, but we don't know which one. Visual effects wizard Cedric Nicolas-Troyan will make his feature directorial debut on the project that Universal will release on April 22nd, 2016.
