Kristen Bell & Kathy Bates Meet Melissa McCarthy's 'Michelle Darnell'

Before we see Melissa McCarthy suit up with Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon as the new Ghostbusters, the comedy actress will take on another lead role in a new comedy from her husband, director Ben Falcone. The film is called Michelle Darnell, and McCarthy has the title role, a titan of industry sent to prison after she’s convicted of insider trading. Once released, she aims to be rebranded as America's next sweetheart. But that proves to be difficult since not everyone she stepped on during her career is ready to forgive and forget. Peter Dinklage joined the cast earlier this month, and now there's two more on board.
THR has two separate reports revealing that Kathy Bates and Kristen Bell have roles in the comedy. Bell plays a mousy single mother who is also the former assistant to McCarthy, who is trying to help her get on everyone's good side again while starting her own cupcake business. Meanwhile, Bates (who also starred in Tammy) will play McCarthy's tough, wealthy and eccentric mentor who serves as an example for the kind of success Darnell wants to emulate. Here's hoping this is more than just a familiar companion to the forthcoming comedy Get Hard starring Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. Thoughts?
